Anti-wrinkle Creams to Make at Home
The best anti-wrinkle creams do not have to be made with synthetic ingredients, have fancy names, or come off the shelf. Some of the most effective anti-aging treatments come from natural ingredients that can be easily made at home. Most individual ingredients in these creams can be used separately, but they complement each other when combined, to give a better texture, scent, and benefits to the skin.
Below are two recipes for anti-wrinkle creams that you can DIY in your own kitchen:
1. Almond shea butter anti-wrinkle cream
This simple yet effective cream contains several skin-benefitting ingredients that will leave your skin feeling silky smooth.
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup almond oil
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons beeswax
- 1 tablespoon virgin coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon shea butter
- 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil
- Essential oil for scent (optional)
Directions
Place all the ingredients in a jar. Double boil it in a pan of water. Keep the lid of the jar open when boiling. Stir with a wooden spoon until the ingredients have melted. Store it in a glass jar. The cream will harden once it is set in room temperature. Store in a cool place. Use it within a month or two. Apply it in the morning and night after washing your face.
Each of the ingredients used in the above cream is filled with anti-aging properties and helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Almond oil is an emollient, which means it helps to soften skin. It has been used since long to treat eczema and scarring. It soothes the skin and improves the elasticity of the skin.
Coconut oil is high in antioxidants, which help to fight free radicals which harm the skin. Antioxidants help to maintain youthfulness of the skin. Try to buy organic virgin coconut oil. Beeswax and shea butter have anti-inflammatory benefits on the skin. Vitamin E rejuvenates the skin and delays the appearance of fine lines on the skin.
2. Homemade face moisturizing anti-wrinkle cream
This moisturizing anti-wrinkle cream uses some exotic oils like frankincense oil and sandalwood oil.
Ingredients
- ¼ cup avocado oil or olive oil
- ¼ cup of coconut oil
- 15 drops of frankincense essential oil
- 15 drops of myrrh essential oil
- 10 drops of sandalwood essential oil
- 2 tablespoons beeswax
Directions
In a double boiler, melt beeswax, avocado oil, and coconut oil. Once fully melted, allow it to cool slightly. Stir in the essential oils. Pour mixture into glass containers, preferably mason jars. Use a wooden spoon to take the cream from the jar. Apply it every night and leave it on overnight for best results. This cream can be stored for many months.
Frankincense oil helps in skin cell regeneration, which reduces wrinkles and fine lines. Myrrh oil is a great skin healer. Sandalwood oil hydrates the skin and heals it. It is a very mild oil with a lovely scent. The carrier oil in this cream is avocado oil which is rich in fatty acids. Avocado oil moisturizes the skin and promotes skin cell regeneration. It provides a smooth texture for the other oils to spread well on the skin.
